What a great picture of our ferry in the stormy Guemes Channel. The contrast between sunlight and gray and white caps impart a sense of motion. Beautiful!

This is a good shot; it brings back memories of the '50's taking the "Guemes" every day to school in Anacortes. The water would occasionally run two feet deep through the car section (the Guemes held six cars and had a passenger section along one side). Fortunately the passenger section had a door at each end which kept most of the water outside.
One foggy morning we were waiting at the dock for the ferry to pick us up for school and heard the "Guemes" fog horn blowing to the east of us. The Guemes had run aground in the fog. The skipper, Sandy B., did not have much to help in the way of electronics in those days.
